Dipankar Chakravorty – a renowned journalist was killed in the year, 2004 –at Sherpur –Bogra District on the ground of publishing news. Investigation by Police is slow. No charge sheet has yet been submitted (Daily Sangbad dated 4th May,2006)
Police could not find out the real perpetrators after lapse of one and half years since the killing of Dipankar Chakravorty- journalist of Bogra district of Bangladesh. Dipankar Chakravorty was a reputed journalist and Vice-President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ). He was murdered on 2nd October, 2004 at about 11 p.m. nearer to his home while he was returning home at Bogra town. His son Partha Sarathi Chakravorty being complainant of the case lodged F.I.R. at Sherpur Police station on 3rd October,04 . Police arrested four persons on suspicion. The matter has been transferred to C.I.D.
The Special Superintendent of Police –CID lastly investigated the matter on 18 th of April, 06. Investigation after investigation going on but no development of the case is being made due to obvious reason. The investigating officer suspects that Dipankar was murdered due to protest against illegal occupation of 500 acres of Debottor (Deity's) properties belonging to Bhabanipur Temple at Bogra He was vocal for protection of this Temple since long.
The Investigating officer also told that he is trying to find out the mystery whether Dipankar was killed due to publication of news or not. Question has arisen why the perpetrators have not yet identified after lapse of 1 and half years – the investigating officer replied motive of killing has yet to be disclosed. He could not say when the charge sheet would be submitted.
